AT&T Announces New Data Plans, But they Aren’t the Ones We Wanted

July 22, 2013 - Written By Alexander Maxham

On Monday, AT&T announced new 300MB and 2GB Mobile Share plans which will be launching on July 26th, or this Friday. They are expanding their existing unlimited talk and text Mobile Share plans to include two new data options including a 300MB and 2GB plan. These new plans are here to fill the gaps between AT&T’s current 1GB and 4GB plans. So those that use less data won’t be stuck with the price of the 4GB plan.

The 300 MB plan is only $20 a month, with additional costs per device added. Now, customers with basic and quick-messaging devices can share data and unlimited talk and text for as low as $50 a month and smartphone customers for $70 a month

The 300MB plan will cost you $20 while the 2GB plan is sitting at $50, all the other prices are still the same. The cost per smartphone is also staying the same. Which means for $70/month you can get 300MB, and for $85 you can get 1GB of data and $95 gets you 2GB of data. If you really want to go crazy, you can get 50GB for $500 + the cost per device. THat’s a lot of cash to throw at AT&T though. After writing about T-Mobile’s plans so much lately, these seem pretty pricey. But AT&T and Verizon are the most reliable networks around, so you get what you pay for.

It’s great to see AT&T filling that gap, but I was still hoping for possibly an unlimited data plan. That will probably never happen, at least not until they start really feeling the pressure from T-Mobile and Sprint. But I can always hope right?

How many of you are on AT&T’s Mobile Share plans? Are they the type of plans that you like, or would you rather AT&T go back to the standard Family and individual plans? Let us know in the comments below.
