In today’s App of the Day feature, we’re taking a look at Battery Saver Free. It’s a new app on the Play Store, in fact it just launched over the weekend. It’s aiming to go head-to-head with those like Juice Defender and Qualcomm’s Battery Guru in attempting to save your battery life. You can use Battery Saver Free to easily clean your phone of resource hogging applications, kill unwanted processes, and optimize your battery life with just one click.

Battery Saver free, is of course free, and is only 1MB on your device. Which is almost nothing compared to some other apps we use everyday. Like Google’s Keyboard which is about 15MB in size. Battery Saver Free also does not continuously run in the background, defeating the purpose of having a battery boosting app.

The developer says that more features are coming soon, along with a widget which could be very helpful. If you’ve tried all the other battery boosting apps out there and none of them have worked for you, you may want to give this one a go. The biggest thing here compared to Juice Defender and Battery Guru is that it does not run in the background, so it should work pretty well.

You can download it in the Play Store, like we said it’s a very small app, and it works on Android 2.1 – Eclair and above, so just about everyone can use it.
