Sprint hasn’t yet announced the Galaxy S4 OTA, but they are pushing out this new update for their brand new handset. It’s version L720VPUAMDL. Which is an update from the L720VPUAMDC that the device shipped with. So far there’s no published changelog, but from what we can gather it appears to just be bug fixes as normal with these OTA’s shortly after a device launch. Android Police has reported that they do believe the lock screen animation is a bit snappier, but they also say that could be a placebo effect.
The update from Samsung and Sprint is about 30MB in size and is already pushing out which means customers should be able to pull it down from the update server by doing the following:
- Go into Settings
- Tap on About Phone
- Tap on System Updates
- Tap on Check for Updates
If that doesn’t work for you, you may need to try again a bit later. But where it’s not a huge update, the update probably won’t have a staggered rollout. Or at least not as staggered as with bigger updates. So far what’s been reported seems to be all bug fixes, and under the hood improvements. But if you do see anything new on your Galaxy S4 from Sprint, be sure to let us know in the comments below. After all, that’s what they are there for.
We’re suspecting that Samsung and/or Sprint were just a bit behind rolling out the final version of Touchwiz for the Galaxy S4. But if you do find anything new, shout them out in the comments below. Also let us know if you’ve been able to get the update. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly they push this update out. How many of you have picked up a Sprint Galaxy S4?
