Well it looks like the Asus MemoPad Smart 10, which was first leaked on the second of February, was reviewed by the Tablet.bg Bulgarian website, which has received a pre-release device. Overall, their review of the tablet was a positive one, it having a good battery life (which is around seven and a half hours) and built quality that impressed them.
The specs of the device are not groundbreaking. Here, take a look for yourself.
- 10.1-inch IPS capacitive display with 1,280 x 800 pixels resolution
- Quad-core 1.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 T30L
- GeForce ULP graphics card
- 1 GB of RAM
- 16 GB or 32 GB versions
- Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
- 5 MP rear-facing camera
- 1.2 MP front-facing camera
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth
- GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, microSD card reader, micro USB 2.0, micro HDMI, stereo speakers
- 5,070 mAh battery
- 556 grams weight
- 9.9 mm thickness
See? One thing I must say is that the battery is a high-capacity one at 5,070 mAh (my laptop has less than that) and surprisingly the weight is just a mere 556g (or 19oz for those of you using the Imperial measurement system).
The price of the tablet is not fit for such a spec list though. The 16GB version will be 329 euro (or $442) and the 32GB will be around 389 euro (or $520). For that money you can buy a much better tablet with a much better screen resolution (among others) rather than spending your cash on a 1280 x 800 one. The benchmarking is not impressive either, scoring 1454 (the cheaper Nexus 7, for instance, scored 1591). Regardless of that, you should also know that the tablet is supposed to come in three colors – blue, red and white.
It’s a shame that ASUS’ ten-inch option here has the Tegra 3 in it and not something that’s packing Cortex-A15 inside of it. Having said that, it’s still going to be great for games and everyday use, it might just take you a teeny bit longer is all.
In my opinion, the only thing that it has going for the Asus MemoPad Smart 10 is the fact that it is pretty light and it has a big battery. Another thing that impressed me are the stereo speakers and that it comes in blue, but that could very well be a subjective view.
