Sponsored Game Review: Catch the Candy

candyMore than ever, mobile games are relying on physics based gameplay in order to deliver a quality gaming experience. That’s great and there are now a lot of games in the Play Store that will have you thinking hard on the your next move, and how physics is going to affect your gameplay. It’s these sort of games that exploit our touchscreens more than ever, which is great as more people adopt 7-inch tablets, and our smartphones get bigger and bigger, touch is the best control scheme. Read on to see if Catch the Candy is a game that has everything you look for in a game.

Description: Catch the Candy is a best on a hit Flash game from the web but, this is a full Android game and the controls are easy to master. You’re tasked with helping the cute creature get a hold of the candy so that he so craves. Using his tail, you can push and pull obstacles in order to get to the candy, it starts off easy but, you’ll have to try harder and harder as the game goes on. With a whopping 58 levels and 40 achievements, there’s a lot to do, read on to see how Catch the Candy will have you coming back for more.

How it Works: To start helping your new found friend get a hold on all the Candy he wants, you’ll have to first install the app from the Play Store. After a short download later, you’re ready to play the game. As soon as you load the game up, you’ll be asked to input your name:

The first thing you’ll notice is how nice the game looks, as you move on to the main menu you see more of the clean graphics.

From the main menu you’ll see the fun looks and also you’ll meet the creature that you’ll be helping get his candy. When you hit Play you’ll be taken to the level select screen and then you’ll be asked to select a level to play. The first level will easily tell you how to play the game.

Essentially all you have to do is hold to drag or push object. Where you press on the screen, is where our little friend’s tail will head to on the level. As you can see, things start off nice and simple but they soon get really quite difficult.

The levels are all quite varied and they push the boundaries of what you can do pushing and pulling object around. For instance, there is one level that has you negotiating around an Apple tree.

What’s really great about the game is that there’s only a certain amount of time to do the level to get 3 stars. The more time you take, the less stars you get…all the way down to nothing. To progress to more levels, you have to unlock more stars. This has great replay value.

Opinion: I love these sort of games, the type of game that asks very little of the user in order to have a lot of fun. I’m a big PC gamer and have a modest gaming rig but, these games that utilize touch and physics are perfect for the mobile platform. After all, onscreen controls aren’t a lot of fun and I’m sure a lot of you would agree that playing Call of Duty on a phone isn’t a great idea. Catch the Candy is a lot of fun and something you can enjoy on the commute, or with a cup of coffee after hours.
