CES was not the best when it comes to mobile but there was thing that Android fans were excited about: the Xperia Z. Sony’s Xperia Z – and the Xperia ZL – are a return to form for the Japanese company and for the first time they’ve married stunning design with state-of-the-art processing power. Needless to say, the Full HD display and resistance to dust and water in the case of the Xperia Z, make for very appealing devices, indeed. Both the Z and the ZL share a whole lot in common and if you missed the announcement first time around, then this is what you can expect from both of them on the specs front:
- 5-inch 1080p Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA 2 technology
- Quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 pro processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 13MP Exmor R powered rear-facing camera; 2.2MP front-facing camera
- 16GB internal storage; expandable via micro SD card
- Android 4.1
- Battery 2370mAh
- 4G LTE connectivity
- Android 4.1.2 at launch
Now, if you like the look of the Xperia Z and the ZL then there’s a good chance that you might like the artwork that comes loaded on the devices. If you do, then you’re in luck as enterprising folk over at XDA – where you can download the whole pack – have you covered and have dug out wallpapers and lockscreen images from the devices. For the most part, Sony seem to have gone with photos that are bright and vivid, in order to show off that stunning Full HD display, we assume, and they certainly look good. The wallpapers look like they’re designed for phones of a 720p display which could suggest that there is higher-resolution copies coming closer to the phone’s release. For most of us though, this is a good thing as we’re still chugging along just fine with our 720p displays.
It’s good to see Sony packing some quality artwork into these devices, especially when it comes to the Z and its sleek lines. There’s no better way to sell a stunning device than to really make first impressions count. Here in the UK we’re coming under a little snow and this winter picture for my lockscreen is particularly fitting:
