Thanks to a recently submitted Bluetooth SIG, it appears that a LTE-capable, Samsung device by the model SGH-T999L might be heading to T-Mobile soon. For those that don’t know, the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 is model number SGH-T999. So this would just add a letter to that number, there is also a Canadian version with the model number SGH-T999V. The filing also shows us that the T999L is a GSM phone with Bluetooth 4.0 supporting “HAP, A2DP, AVRCP, GAVDP, HFP1.5, OPP, PBAP, MAP, PAN, HID, etc.”
Now since this is a filing with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), we shouldn’t be expecting to get all the specifics of this device, like screen size, RAM, etc. And of course we didn’t get all that information anyways. With all of this said. If T-Mobile and Samsung are looking to push out a new, revamped Galaxy S3 with LTE, I sure hope they upgrade some of the specs (like the dual-core Snapdragon S4 to a quad-core Exynos) and bring it to Android 4.2 for release.
We are assuming at this point that the “L” at the end of the model number stands for LTE, but we could be wrong. The next step with this device would be for it to take a little visit to the FCC. So we may see this one at CES in a couple of weeks. And we might now.
Would you purchase a new, revamped version of the Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile? Right now the Galaxy S3 is one of the most popular and best selling devices on the magenta carrier, aside from the Galaxy Note 2. If this does indeed show up at CES, I hope T-Mobile launches it before Mobile World Congress in late February. If they wait until after Mobile World Congress, it might be to late. Since the Galaxy S4 “should” be announced in April or May. And if T-Mobile and Samsung want this thing to actually sell, it needs to come out ASAP. Who else agrees? Let us know in the comments below.
