More Hints that Google Messed up the Nexus 4 Launch; Nexus 4 Back ordered up to 3 Weeks

November 15, 2012 - Written By Alexander Maxham

This launch has just been a mess. We already know about the errors the Play Store was giving everyone. Then the devices selling out in about 20 minutes in each region of the world. And today some started shipping out. Now some people are getting emails that their Nexus 4 is being back ordered up to 3 weeks before they will receive it. Now what’s even more puzzling, is Google doesn’t seem to be shipping the devices from the first orders, they are shipping random ones. Folks that ordered (in the US) at 8:34am PST are getting back order emails, while people that ordered later are getting shipment confirmation. Is it just me or does this look like the Nexus 7 launch all over again?

Here’s the email that Google is sending out to folks:

Thank you for your recent purchase on Google Play. Due to overwhelming demand, your Nexus 4 is on backorder and is expected to ship within three weeks. We’ll send you a notification when your order has shipped and will credit the shipping charges.
