November 5, 2012 - Written By Tom Dawson

App discovery is something that a lot of us take very seriously, finding a good app to solve a problem or a specific need is often quite hard using the Play Store. Whether or not you’re just finding some new apps to play with or you need to find the right solution to a problem, getting the right app and, at times, the right price is pretty key. While the Play Store has gotten a whole lot better in this regard in the last few years, it’s far from perfect and you can never have too many strings to your bow. This is where AppZapp comes in, we’re going to be taking a look at how this app can help you sniff out sales of the best apps, whenever and wherever you are.

Description: AppZapp is the key to getting hold of apps that are on offer or apps that are even free for a certain time. That’s the key part of this app, it’s a unique curator of applications that at least some of their monetary value cut and the great thing about the app is that it lets you search for these apps through numerous different criteria. It’s a brilliant application and if you’re type of person that doesn’t want to pay a lot for applications or simply really like a bargain then this is an app for you so, read on to see what’s what.

How it Works: It’s just one simple download from the Play Store and that’s it. After that you can get stuck in looking for apps. There are a number of screen in which you can filter your apps from. Thankfully, the app is built with a Holo sort of design and it looks really great. A lot of the apps features are accessible from the main screen using drop down menus, of which there are several:

AppZapp fulfils its purpose by a great many filters you can apply to the sorting of apps. There’s a filter for how much off of the app’s original price:

There’s a filter for how many downloads an app has:

Another for categories – of which there are many:

You get the picture, there’s a lot you can do with AppZapp to find the best apps for the best prices – this is far more than the Google Play Store app offers and well, they’re a search giant. The main magic happens when you pull to the right and open up the app’s main menu.

It’s through this that you can take a look at some of the more interesting things surrounding AppZap, you can take a look at newcomers to the Play Store:

You can also take a look at Play Store charts, helping you see what’s going up in price or down in price:

Opinion: There’s a whole lot on offer here when it comes to AppZapp and I’m the time of person that installs a number of apps at a time and then whittles them down to the best of a bad bunch sort of thing. With this little gem here, I don’t have to do any of that as the app does it for me and i can take a look at what’s popular or just see what’s available for nothing or, next to nothing. This all seems a little cheap and, I guess you could look at it like that but, look at it this way, if you got an app on half off or over half off you’re more likely to talk about this app, aren’t you? That, in turn, will make the app more successful and services like AppZapp are nothing but good for Android, making it easier and more fun to find new apps.

Ratings

  • Speed (5/5) – The app runs brilliantly and finding things is super quick.
  • Features (4/5) – While the concept of AppZapp might not be for everyone, the app brings a whole lot to the table to make it so easy.
  • Theme (4/5) – With elements of the Holo theme in current versions of Android it blends in well on stock devices but looks just as good on everything else.
  • Overall (4/5) – This is the best app to use if you’re looking for a new app that’s either a bargain or just really popular.

Pros

  • Massive control over what apps are trending, on offer etc. It makes finding good, new apps a breeze.
  • AppZapp is refreshing to use and makes a big change from the Play Store – for better.
  • There’s nothing dodgy going on here, the app delivers what it sets out to deliver.

Cons

  • A spotlight stage for apps that are ranking high would be brilliant.
  • A tutorial for new users would work wonders.

Conclusion: There’s so many times, flicking through the endless grid of apps on the Play Store that I wish there was a better way. Now, I’ve found it in AppZapp, this might be exaggerating but, in reality it makes finding out new apps a whole lot easier and if you can score this app on half off or better than, brilliant! There’s always something compelling about getting something for less and with the choice that AppZapp puts together for you then that feeling is even bigger. It’s important to note that AppZapp is not about finding cheap apps but finding good, new apps first and foremost and the app does this brilliantly. It’s well worth a look and you never know, you might find your next favorite app through AppZapp.
