Featured: Motorola has killed off Webtop and Lapdock, Big Surprise

October 6, 2012 - Written By Alexander Maxham

To our readers that have owned a recent Motorola device, how many of you have used your lapdock if you even purchased one? Yeah I didn’t think there were to many of you that actually used it, or even had a lapdock. Apparently Motorola is killing off the Webtop and Lapdock which we’ve seen compatible with many of their devices including the Droid Bionic (Verizon), and the Atrix 4G (AT&T). So what’s the reason? Lack of adoption. Yeah we saw that coming.

As we now know, Android 4.0 bridged the remaining gap that Android had between tablet and smartphone, which was basically what the Lapdock did. So there’s really no need for this at all.

So for those of you that own the Lapdock, you are now a collector! You probably won’t keep it much longer, I doubt it’ll get any developer support anyways. Anyone sad to see the Lapdock and Webtop go away?
