Featured: Rogers details ICS upgrade schedule, many slated for September

Rogers has just detailed a nice ICS upgrade schedule which runs from late August through September, which includes 6 devices. Although we’d like to see carriers detailing upgrade schedules for Jelly Bean, since that is the latest and greatest from Google, but Ice Cream Sandwich is still a great update to the Android OS.

So here are the updates:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is expected “Early September”
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is expected “Early September”
Sony Xperia Arc S (LT18a) upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is expected “Early September”
Sony Xperia Arc (LT15a) upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is expected “Early September”
Sony Xperia Mini Pro (SK17a) upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is expected “Early September”
Motorola Razr (XT910) upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is expected “Late August”

Now the Motorola Razr has had ICS (at least in the US) has been out for quite a while, and it’s the first to hit  Rogers customers’ if this schedule holds up. Rogers also notes that these are “tentative” and that they will also “update often, as information is available”. That’s much better than leaving customers in the dark about updates.

We’re hoping that other carriers start to follow what Telus and Rogers have done in Canada with these upgrade schedules. It sure would be nice to know when that Droid 4, Photon Q, and Atrix HD will get Jelly Bean right? Think about it, we have been waiting over a month for Verizon and Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus to get Jelly Bean, and they are Nexus’ devices so they should have had the update long ago. Are there any Rogers customers out there with these devices? Let us know what you think about this update schedule.
