Breakdown Of Verizon’s Upcoming Phone Lineup

March 13, 2011 - Written By De'Jonne Johnson

Verizon couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2011. They finally have the Apple Iphone 4 after of years of speculation, they’ve launched their lightning fast 4G LTE network, and now will begin rolling out their newest lineup of smartphones. Heres is a breakdown of a few Android phones expected to hit big red in the coming months.

We’ll Kick things off with the, still not released, Thunderbolt from HTC. This is a beast of a phone featuring a 4.3 inch display, the latest HTC Sense UI(2.0) and 8 megapixel Camera with Dual LED Flash. As the first 4G phone set to hit Verizon, HTC pulled out all the stops. With a front-facing camera, kickstand, and great aluminum unibody build, the Thunderbolt is far from an entry level device. Despite it’s lack of a dual core processor, you are given a 1GHZ Hummingbird processor with 768mb of RAM which will allow for some blazingly fast browsing and gaming.

Specs:

  • Android 2.2(Froyo), update to Android 2.3(Gingerbread) is expected.
  • 4.3 inch WVGA TFT capacitive touch screen
  • 8MP with autofocus, LED Flash (2x LED), 1.3MP front facing camera
  • 8GB emmc + 768 RAM Memory card, preinstalled 32 GB microSD
  • 1400 mAh battery
  • Verizon 4G LTE Network

Next up, the HTC Incredible 2. Though not announced, it is expected to simply be the North American twin of the UK’s HTC Incredible S. The Incredible by HTC was one of the top smartphones of 2010, how do they top it? Keep the same, dare-to-be-different, race car inspired design, bump the screen size to 4 inches and throw on a front facing camera just for fun. The Incredible 2 has already been spotted in Verizon’s inventory system and an announcement is expected soon.
