Imagine… Encyclopedia Britannica In Your Pocket

January 10, 2011 - Written By Chris Yackulic

Back in my school days it was a trek to the library to search through volumes and volumes of Encyclopedia Britannica to complete my projects. Millenials, I’m talking about actual physical paper books here! This turned into an all-day Saturday event. My parents, like many others in the baby boom years, could not afford the $500 to $1,ooo required to purchase the entire collection of encyclopedias, and then there was the problem, just where to store these 20 to 30 heavy thick books?

Well, flash forward to 2011, and those issues have just disappeared! Scoot on over to the Android Market to purchase the concise version of Encyclopedia Britannica for only $19.95. Yeah, that’s right,$19.95! No more all-day events leafing through volumes and volumes of encyclopedias, just pull your Android phone out of your pocket in the privacy of your own room. Quickly plug in some search criteria into the Britannica app, and bang, there it is at your fingertips! I only wish things could have been that convenient for me. I could have spent more time doing other things besides homework.
