A 5th Member to the US Galaxy S Family: The Mesmerize

We’ve known that US Cellular was getting their own version of Samsung’s Android-powered superphone, the Galaxy S, for some time now. Hell, we’ve known about it just as long as we’ve known about AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon’s, all of which have already hit the shelves by now.

US Cellular, however, has been letting things ripen for a bit, keeping everything from specs, to photos, to the device’s name close to their chest — until now.

Meet the fifth Galaxy S variant to hit the US: the US Cellular Mesmerize. Spec-wise, its closest sibling is probably the T-Mobile Vibrant. Its got the same 4″ Super AMOLED display, the same 5.0 megapixel rear camera, and the same 1 GHZ CPU, and, just like the Vibrant, it doesn’t offer up the front-facing camera or slide-out QWERTY keyboard of other models.

Of course, US Cellular customers are probably more than willing to overlook those two things, considering that this is easily the best handset to hit the carrier in ages. We’re being told that it’ll hit the shelves for $199 bucks (after a 2-year contract and $80 mail-in rebate in the form of a Visa Debit Card) come October 27th.
