Samsung Announces Galaxy Player 50: Media is the Message

There are plenty of announcements from IFA in Berlin, and Samsung is getting most of the attention for its Galaxy Tab Android tablet.  But they’ve also brought out an Android OS portable media player (PMP), the Galaxy Player.  No, this isn’t the Yp-MB2 media player which is a Galaxy S without the phone.  Contain your disappointment while reading the specs.

This Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) device has a 3.2 inch screen, 8 or 16 gigabytes of internal memory, plus a microSD slot for additional storage up to 32 GB.  It supports the DivX codec (video compression), has ThinkFree office software onboard, and of course access to the Android Market for plenty of apps and Google features.  Of course there’s WiFi, but no word on which version.

It will retail for 229 Euros for the 8 gigabyte version and 299 for the larger 16 GB size.
