Sprint Exec Responsible for HTC EVO 4G Resigns

Kevin Packingham is leaving Sprint on August 16. Don’t know who he is? He is the Sprint Executive responsible for the HTC EVO 4G account. Why is he a big deal? He brought the worlds first 4G phone to Sprint. He is also responsible for the Samsung Epic 4G which will release later this month. The unique thing about the Epic 4G is that it is the only Samsung Galaxy S phone to come with a QWERTY keyboard and WiMAX. I’d say he has done a heck of a job. By now you are wondering, where is he going? He is leaving to become CEO of a company in Kansas City. We do not know the name of the company, only that Kevin will be leaving August 16 to got there. The only bad thing Kevin may have on his shoulders is the inventory issues that plague these smartphones once they release. The worst part about Sprint is that they are not financially sound right now. Things are picking up for them and they have stayed in the news with the EVO  and Epic 4G phones. For the first time in three years, Sprint gained subscribers in the recent quarter. They had been losing customers ever since they purchased Nextel in 2005.
