Android Claims Top 9 Spots on Amazon Best Selling Smartphones List

Amazon is a very popular and very trusted site. Many people often use Amazon as a resource and a buying tool when looking for anything from toothbrushes to electronics. As you look into each category on the site, you can open a bestseller list showing you the top 10 items in that category. Well, we decided to see what the bestsellers would be in smartphones and PDA’s. Not surprising at all, Android held the top 9 spots. The reason this is a special list is because Amazon sells phones for all of the major U.S. carriers. The only glaring omission is the iPhone. This is strange because Amazon does carry AT&T phones and other Apple products, just not the iPhone.

Over the weekend we kept our eye on the list to see if it changed and not one time did Android move out of the top 9 spots. It was steady both Saturday and Sunday. To further prove Android’s dominance, the HTC EVO4G from Sprint is not included in this list because it is currently out of stock. Also, corporate purchases are usually made from the carriers so those numbers are not polluting these results at all.

There were two non Android phones that barely made it in to the top 10 over the weekend. The Microsoft Windows Mobile HTC HD2 and the Blackberry Bold 9700. Other than that it was all Android.

One thing I feel I need to note is the fact that Amazon does offer some very aggressive pricing and in some circumstances you can get a phone for less than what the carrier is asking.  Many can even be free including the Droid, Aria, Intercept, Moment and Hero.  Even on the latest and greatest like the T-Mobile Vibrant at $100, the AT&T Captivate at $50, the Droid X at $179 and the Droid Incredible at $149. You can get a deal through Amazon!
