Movie Mode app by Best Buy Translates Despicable Me Minion-Speak in 3D Ending

July 12, 2010 - Written By Chris Yackulic

Interested in the new animated film “Despicable Me”? Are you a smartphone user? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then Best Buy has a treat for you. The Movie Mode app by Best Buy will translate the jibberish that comes out of the yellow minions into common English. Don’t worry, this app won’t distract other movie goers (too much) as it is only usable during the ending credits of the 3D version of the film. Additionally, the app will automatically set your phone to silent for the movie.

Despicable Me, in case you haven’t seen the trailers yet, is a new animated film by Universal Pictures. It’s set to come out this weekend. The story (as far as I can tell) centers around the story of a villain (played by Steve Carell; The Office, 40 Year Old Virgin, Get Smart etc) and how his life changes upside down after coming in contact with a few young girls. It looks quite funny and has so far received not bad reviews ~79% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 7.8/10 on IMDB.

If you’re going to see this in 3D, head on over to http://www.bestbuymoviemode.com/on your smartphone or text ME to 332211 and grab the free app.
