The Next Droid Celebrity: Droid Xtreme / X Droid Mock-Up Design Picture and Specs

Motorola is not the father of Android, but it is the father of Droid and the mega campaign that challenged all those who had a basic HTC device running Android 1.6 and those using an iPhone with their “iDon’t” campaign. The device was the first high end Android phone and had such big promotion that it even appeared in theaters, and with HTC launching the elusive Nexus One, Droid Incredible and now the EVO 4G, it’s time to unveil the next celebrity in Verizon’s Droid Series. The Droid Xtreme.

The picture above is not official but a design mock-up from Alex “Zandog” Gillis who does designs of Android Devices that he showcases at his DevianArt Gallery. Now his design mock-up was available before some of the recent leaks and those leaks actually give some blurry conformations that his design Mock-Up is bang on.

The Droid Xtreme’s name may sound like an over kill but it’s presence has been around his the Motorola Cliq was called the Big Foot as the Sholes Tablet and the Shadow have been circulating around as well. And now due to the cost of a gym membership of a Verizon employee and his job and many blurry shots, we now know that the Shadow has morphed into the Xtreme and has showed up on inventory sheets on Verizon Wireless’ database. Allegedly, this device lives up to it’s name in being extreme, by surpassing the Nexus One running 2.2 in speed while it runs Android 2.1, but the catch is that this phone is also running another layer of Android that is hidden to the user’s eyes. Ninja Blur. What is Ninja Blur? Ninja Blur is MotoBlur running behind the scenes for those users who do not like MotoBlur and the heavy focus on social networking and constant heavy flow of data that some have called overwhelming.

More reports have come in indicating that now the phone is running Android 2.2 (exact information is still unclear) as pictures show 2.1, will have nine home screens, and some reports do say that there is no MotoBlur on a 4.3 inch Screen. Dual Led 8 mega pixel flash camera with HD Video at 720p at least and no slide out keyboard. The Internal specs are a little harder to nail down but it from what we heard a speedy snapdragon processor and 16GB internal storage and HDMI port and strong battery at 1500-mAh.

We would like to hear your feedback on Verizon’s New Droid Xtreme and will you be buying this device?

ummm is that a front facing camera i spy? i’ve got a droid and i love it but i’m ready for a newer phone. i don’t use the slide out keyboard that often if at all. the only thing i’ve considered using it for is with the gamepad slide on for my emulators.

If this will run on Verizon’s forthcomming LTE network i’m in.

Or is that just the light sensor and the power button?

One is a sensor, the other is a front facing camera.

Check it out. This is the first time I have seen this. Look at the second search result. Google apparently cached specs which were posted on the Verizon Droid site at some point. It says that the Droid X will have a 1GHz processor:
